Hydrogen is the chemical element with atomic number 1. It is represented by the symbol H.   With an atomic weight of 1.00794, hydrogen is the lightest and most abundant chemical element, constituting roughly 75 % of the Universe's elemental mass.  Hydrogen gas (H2) is the diatomic form of stable Hydrogen (H2, dihydrogen).  H2 is highly flammable and will burn in air at a very wide range of concentrations between 4% and 75% by volume.  Liquefied H2 is a very dense (~192 scf/lb) and cold liquid (-423 F, -253 C).  Liquid H2 is used as the Space Shuttle main engine fuel and in transportation and storage of H2 as a supply for some industrial applications.  The majority of H2 used by industry is produced by onsite generation (SMR's) and recovery-recycle plants (PSA's and Membranes) near or at the point of application.  (More Hydrogen basics ...)
